About Dark Score

Why Dark Score?

Musicians who practice at night, perform on dark stages, or read from tablets for hours know the problem: white sheet music on a bright screen is tiring for the eyes. Dark Score was born to solve this. It converts your PDFs and images to dark mode in seconds, so you can focus on the music.

Who is it for?

Night owls

Practice late without eye strain. The blue light filter preset is designed for long sessions in low light.

Stage performers

A bright white screen in a dark theater distracts the audience and ruins your night vision. The dark stage preset gives you AMOLED black with high contrast notation.

Orchestra pit musicians

Pit musicians need to read music under dim stand lights. The warm amber preset reduces glare while keeping notation readable.

Teachers and students

Preparing materials for screen-based lessons? Convert handouts to dark mode so students can read comfortably on any device.

Custom needs

Choose your own background and notation colors, adjust contrast and brightness, and thicken thin lines from old scans. Make your scores look exactly how you want.

Your files stay on your device

Dark Score processes everything directly in your browser using a technology called Web Workers. This means:

  • โœ“Your files are never uploaded to any server
  • โœ“No internet connection is needed after the page loads
  • โœ“No one else can see or access your scores
  • โœ“Only anonymous, cookieless usage statistics and crash reports are collected
  • โœ“The source code is open and auditable on GitHub

I built it this way because I understand that sheet music can be copyrighted material, personal arrangements, or unpublished compositions. Your work deserves to stay yours.
